Before we get started I would like to share an illustration, many times when we want to go out for a function we get to make the choice of what to wear and sometimes we act like we don’t care what people would say but you then get a second thought that says you would be addressed the way you dress! The same goes for your business and how your website looks!
Here are just a few things to look out for before starting your website design
- Don’t forget to build your website for mobile use: As much as your business website is built with a laptop you have to consider most of your users are likely going to use their phones to check your website on the go. Mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones contribute to so much of our web browsing screen time now that we must adjust our websites accordingly.
- Don’t forget to use enough keywords related to your business in your content: If you should bother about anything then SEO should be paramount. How well users can search your website using their terms determines how successful your business is online. No matter how beautiful your layout is when you cannot be found then it’s useless.
- Your website shouldn’t be too heavy: The speed of any website is as important to your website visitors. when building your website ensure videos are not uploaded directly into the website. Use a third-party application like youtube. Ensure images are compressed into kilobytes so they do not affect loading time.On average, sites take about 5 or 6 seconds. However, guess how long most users are going to stick around before they leave the page? We’re looking at more like 3 seconds. That discrepancy means people aren’t getting what they need fast enough. An important thing to note is that Google looks at your engagement metrics, like people sticking around on your site versus “bouncing” right off, as a way to determine whether people are finding your site valuable. If your site appears to be valuable, it’ll help your rankings, and vice versa.
- Don’t direct people off your website: Whatever happens ensure the link in your website opens in another tab so that users can get back into your website without clicking any more buttons.
There you go! Creating and maintaining a website is a huge project no matter what type of organization you’re a part of. It is important that your website must be good enough for visitors to keep coming back. You don’t want to spend over $100 on a website with a high bouncing rate.
